1. Get the iPhone app

You'll also need an online Mac and a signed-in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or Devin account. Coding agents run on your Mac.

2. Set up your Mac

Before installing: Earshot launches live coding agents with approval prompts disabled. Agents can run commands, change or delete files, and use credentials available to your Mac account. A project folder or worktree does not limit their access. Understand coding agent access.

Paste this into Terminal on a Mac with Node.js 22.14 or newer.

Opening Earshot leaves voice off. Tap Start voice, or use the iPhone Action Button shortcut to start listening.

The installer puts the coordinator in your Application Support folder and starts it so it comes back after reboot.

3. Pair your iPhone

Setup opens at http://127.0.0.1:8788. If it does not, open that address yourself.
Choose the folder that holds your projects and confirm the hosted relay.
In the Earshot iPhone app, scan the QR code or paste the connection code. Tap Start voice when you're ready.

Voice usage and billing

Typed tasks do not require Earshot voice credits. Hosted voice is billed by usage at 2.5× OpenAI token rates. Buy prepaid credits in the iPhone app or Mac setup, or add your own OpenAI API key in Mac setup to pay OpenAI directly.

Credits belong to the paired computer and do not expire. Coding-provider charges are separate. With your own key, voice still connects through Earshot's hosted relay.
